Waterproofing in Cincinnati: what to know
Cincinnati has cold winters with snow and ice, and hot, humid summers. Historic brick homes on hilly lots are common, where basement water, older chimneys and aging pipes are frequent issues.
- Snowmelt and spring thaws push water into basements through cracks and wall joints.
- Older stone and block foundations often need interior drainage and a sump pump to stay dry.
- Spring storms and poor grading are the main causes of wet basements and crawl spaces.
